We make a magazine dedicated to growing marijuana perfectly, but if popular website Reddit had a marijuana magazine, it would be called “Growing Marijuana Horribly.”

It’s crazy the number of posts every day on Reddit about growing marijuana. Our team spent a year studying the posts, and Reddit’s many forums devoted to marijuana, and here’s what we found:

The first thing to know about Reddit is that most of its marijuana posts appear to be clever trolling and spamming to promote the worst marijuana seeds companies, strains, grow lights, grow tents, autoflower marijuana, and marijuana growing techniques.

You can be almost 100% sure that if you see marijuana growing advice on Reddit, it’s wrong. Here are some examples:

  • You don’t need to use nutrients or fertilizer if your “dirt is good.”
  • Autoflower is better than photoperiod. Read this article to get the truth.
  • You can get great seeds from bulk seed and white label seed sellers.
  • Use hermie pollen to make new seeds.
  • Spray deadly poison on your plants to get rid of pests and diseases.
  • Do low stress training (LST) even if you have no idea how to do it.
  • Take all leaves off your plant when it goes into bloom.
  • Play heavy-metal music in grow room to increaser potency.
  • Stop giving your plants nutrients and/or water in the last two weeks of bloom phase.
  • Put your plants in total darkness, or only give them far-red or UV light, in the last days of bloom phase.
  • Play thrash metal music to your plants to increase potency.
  • Buy the cheapest grow tent, grow lights, root zone media, and nutrients you can find.
  • If you see even the slightest hint of off-color in leaves, immediately start dumping solo nutrients like Epsom salts or earthworm castings into the root zone.
  • Don’t worry about pH.
  • Fertilize plants with dog and cat shit.
  • Use Fox Farm and other generic, sub-par soil mixes and fertilizers.
  • Let your pets go into the grow room.
  • Grow outdoors even in states where it’s illegal to do so, or where strangers can easily see your plants.
  • If buds get gray mold, just dry them out and smoke them anyway.
  • Use tap water, not reverse osmosis water.
  • It’s easy to breed your own marijuana strains.
  • Spray plants with sugar water.
  • Throw several seeds in one pot.
  • Germinate using paper towels.
  • Don’t invest in professional pH, EC, and PPFD meters.
  • Harvest whenever the buds look and smell good.
  • No need to invest in books on growing marijuana, just trust redditors, YouTube, other amateur advice.

Yes, these gross gems of bad advice are what you get on Reddit. And just so you know, every one of those stupid ideas is totally wrong.

Who creates all this braindead content? Sock puppets, probably. We see the same photos of ugly little runt plants used over and over by dozens of redditors with different screen names. The photos are accompanied by questions that nobody can answer on Reddit, because the redditor didn’t provide enough information.

We repeatedly see photos of small buds lacking resin glands, but the only thing the redditor has posted is “should I harvest?” If the redditor was really serious about getting advice from strangers, they’d tell the strain name, what the breeder says is the bloom phase duration, the color and condition of resin glands, etc.

Another Reddit scam is the constant posting of photos of multiple seed packs from generic big-name sellers like Barney’s, Sensi, Mephisto, Ethos, Humboldt CSI, Exotic Genetix, Rare Dankness, Cali Connection, DNA, TGA, Fast Buds, TH Seeds, Humboldt Seed Organization, G13, Mr. Nice, In House, Humboldt Seed Company, Sin City, Green House, and on and on.

The redditor accompanies the pic with a statement that they’re starting a new season and want advice on which seeds to grow. The replies all seem to be from marketers promoting their own brand, and we suspect that the original post was created for profit motives too.

And just so you know, read this article and find out those seed companies are thieves and liars selling hermie strains and bulk-bred schwag, so you avoid wasting your money on inferior genetics like Reddit posters do.

One of the biggest problems on Reddit is Reddit itself. Their rules and moderators are set up to block honest transparency. Their mods are power-tripping whiny little biatches. Posters are rewarded with Reddit “karma points” for spreading rancid lies about marijuana growing techniques, seed companies and grow gear, but if you tell the truth about the lies, you get banned.

This is especially true in the many Reddit posts about grow lights and grow tents, which are clearly designed to promote inferior products like Fluence, Spider Farmer, HLG, Mars Hydro, Vipar Spectra, AC Infinity, and other poorly-made junk. Read here for accurate information about grow lights.

The bottom line is if you want the worst advice about growing marijuana, go to Reddit.

Reddit is a weird website full of snark, time-wasters, losers, incels, traitors, mutants, religious nuts, fools, wankers, egomaniacs, girls who post photos of themselves in cameltoe clothing, prostitutes, Only Fans models, and others who aren’t worth your time.

If you’re stoned and want free comedy, Reddit does have funny videos, and you can also laugh at clueless marijuana redittors.

One of our favorites was a photo of a ten-foot tall marijuana plant growing in the ground outdoors, ready for harvest. The redditor said he was moving to a different house, and wondered if he could take the plant and transplant it somewhere else, lol.

So while Reddit is a place for mild chuckles, it’s definitely NOT the place to get intelligent marijuana growing advice.
