We’ve been watching Humboldt Seed Company’s (HSC) breeding evolution ever since they came on the scene in California’s famed Emerald Triangle region in 2001. Here they are a quarter century later, with a new catalogue headlined: “Year of the Washers,” with a huge pile of golden resin glands behind the words!
Their catalogue is a gourmet dessert menu of proprietary terp-forward extreme-THC strains for connoisseur growers.
HSC’s current achievements came from starting with a hard-earned advantage: for years, HSC founder Nat Pennington hiked across Northern Cal’s cannabis grower wilderness doing ecological restoration projects, also meeting remote, secret growers of the world’s rarest, purest, most potent marijuana strains. For more about Nat’s wilderness adventures, see here.
Cuts and marijuana seed strains that had been growing only in a tiny, hidden Humboldt canyon for 35 years, producing buds so dripping with honey resin and yet mold resistant that it fills your heart with joy—growers gave cuts and seeds of these rare strains to Nat!
Pennington’s earliest seed strains were legendary Triangle heritage strains like Arcata Trainwreck, Headband, Asphalt Plant, Bigfoot Glue, Blueberry, Haze, etc.….but by the 2000s you saw a gradual shift toward teasing out the most obscure yet interesting, vigorous, stable, productive genetics, increasing cannabinoid percentages, and creating loud, luscious new terp scents that turn into high-percentage washers for terp sauces and other cannabis concentrates.
Now HSC’s 2026 new release list is here—their feminized photoperiod menu leaning heavily Indica for massive yields, vigorous plants with high pest and pathogen resistance, and new tastes and flavors.
Start with Blueberry Honey. The name itself is tantalizing. HSC has long mastered the art of Blueberry marijuana, which is a tricky plant to breed and grow. Blueberry Honey (cross between Blueberry Pancakes x PPD x Dip N’ Stix) is an Indica powerhouse that some say comes in as high as 31% THC, loud blueberry terps, and a surprisingly euphoric high for an Indica-dominant strain.
Whoever names HSC’s strains has poetic talent. Candy Hustle is an Indica-dominant cross of Don Carlos x Jose x Grape Menthol. HSC describes the high as “psychedelic,” says the strain is known for huge yields, incredible taste and flavor, few bud leaves, above average resin gland density.
Another banger strain name: Hyper Za. This Indica-dominant strain includes two fire HSC strains: Poddy Mouth & Farmer’s Daughter, along with a classic Wedding Cake. Loaded with resin glands and testing up to 35% THC, this winner comes with a potency warning, lol.
Rounding out the new 2026 HSC strains announced so far is Puff Pastry, a slightly Sativa-dominant hybrid made from Obama Kush Z S1 x Blueberry Cupcake x OBKZ 57 S1. Only 50-55 days in bloom needed to produce chocolatey buds with extreme potency and Sativa uplift.
The best time to buy HSC seeds is when they are freshly released. Within a couple of months, they’ll be sold out of some favorite pack sizes and strains.
