SANlight’s goal was to measure the harvest weight and yield per watt effects of three different levels of light intensity as measured by photosynthetic photon flux density, which is by far the most effective metric for how much light you’re feeding your plants.

Absolutely identical conditions and inputs were maintained, except that the PPFD delivered to plants was different.

The results of the test are interesting and useful, as you clearly see the direct relationship between light intensity and plant performance.

The one variable not totally controlled for in this three-garden experiment was that the plants were grown from seed rather than clone.

Most seed companies sell seeds that produce a range of phenotypes and performance, making them not ideal for testing when genetic uniformity is required. Clones from the same mother are the way to ensure the most genetic uniformity.
